There are projects, and then there are moments that remind us why we do what we do. When the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, entrusted Worx Group with delivering their South African roadshow, we stepped into a brief that was as ambitious as it was exciting. The brief was clear – take the essence of Abu Dhabi, its warmth, its future, its world-class hospitality and translate it into three unique guest experiences across Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town.
Executing a roadshow of this scale required more than logistics. It demanded creativity, cultural sensitivity, and a team capable of synchronising multiple moving parts without losing the magic or momentum. From sourcing venues that captured the right atmosphere to managing RSVP’s, curating the food experience, and ensuring every detail flowed seamlessly, this was true to what Worx Group stands for.
In Johannesburg, The Westcliff offered an elevated setting with sweeping views that matched the premium nature of the showcase. Durban’s Radisson Blu brought a modern coastal sophistication that resonated beautifully with the region’s travel community. Cape Town’s The Cullinan added a sense of timeless elegance, perfectly suited for a city known for its design and cultural richness.
Sourcing these venues was not simply a logistical task for us, it was a creative exercise in matching the spirit of Abu Dhabi with the energy of each South African city.
Crafting the décor and visual language for the roadshow meant finding harmony between two worlds. Our team curated a refined aesthetic inspired by Abu Dhabi’s warmth, hospitality, and understated luxury. From the moment guests arrived to the moment they took their seats, every detail was designed to tell a consistent story.
Food is a storyteller, and we approached it as such. We worked closely with venue teams to curate menus that offered a balance of familiar South African flavours and subtle Middle Eastern touches.
Delivering the same standard of excellence across three cities in one week demands sharp coordination and relentless focus. Our project managers directed every component from supplier partnerships, staging, technical setups, timings, décor, hospitality, and client alignment.
As our Project Manager, Dimakatso Maduma shared:
“Working with an international client like the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi was an incredible experience for our team. It pushed us to operate at a global standard while still bringing a uniquely South African warmth to each event. Our goal was to make the roadshow seamless, and seeing it come to life across three cities was truly rewarding.”
This three-city roadshow was a reminder of what’s possible when vision, creativity, and meticulous execution come together. For Worx Group, projects like this are opportunities to translate ambitious ideas into experiences that leave a lasting impression.
Ultimately, it’s partnerships, collaboration, and attention to detail that make events of this scale successful. Seeing the roadshow come to life across Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town reaffirmed why we love what we do.
